What is osteopathy

A whole-person, hands-on approach

Osteopathy is a client-centred manual healthcare discipline that considers the relationship between the body's structure and function. It takes a whole-person approach to movement, comfort, and the body's ability to maintain and restore function.

We assess the body as an integrated system — muscles, joints, and connective tissue working together — and individualize care to support normal function, comfortable movement, and the body's natural healing.

Our approach to care

  • Client-centred — tailored to your individual concerns, needs, and goals.
  • Whole-person assessment — how structures and systems relate to movement and function.
  • Gentle & individualized — techniques selected by age, comfort, and clinical needs.
  • Function-focused — supporting mobility, comfort, and participation in everyday life.
  • Collaborative — osteopathic care can complement medical, physiotherapy, and other services.

Osteopathic care methods

A range of manual techniques, selected by your presentation and clinical assessment.

Soft Tissue Manipulation

Techniques to assess and address muscle and connective-tissue tension and restriction, improving tissue mobility and supporting comfortable movement.

Osteopathic Articular Technique

Gentle, controlled movement of joints to support mobility and reduce discomfort associated with musculoskeletal restriction.

Cranial Osteopathy

A gentle manual approach involving the head, spine, sacrum, and body — individualized and applied with a calm, respectful approach.

Visceral Manipulation

A manual approach to the mobility and relationships of organs and surrounding connective tissue — individualized, and never a substitute for medical assessment.

Conditions & concerns we may help address

Acute or persistent pain Muscle tightness & spasms Movement & postural concerns Joint stiffness & restricted mobility Activity-related discomfort Feeding-related concerns in babies Digestive discomfort (with medical care)

Group insurance

Is osteopathy covered by insurance?

Osteopathic Manual Practitioner services may be reimbursed by many group plans — coverage varies by provider, so here's what to know before you book.

Do you offer direct billing to group insurance providers?
It varies by plan and the type of care. Contact KV Osteo Health Clinic to confirm whether direct billing is available for your plan. If not, you'll pay in full and submit your receipt to your insurer for reimbursement.
Do you accept WSIB injury claims?
Not at this time. We don't process WSIB injury claims. For WSIB-covered rehab, we recommend a local physiotherapy clinic that provides WSIB services.
Do you accept motor vehicle accident (MVA) claims?
Not at this time. We don't process MVA claims through Ontario's HCAI system. For HCAI-covered rehab, we recommend a local physiotherapy clinic that provides MVA rehabilitation.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
Usually not. Most group plans don't require a referral for osteopathic treatment, but some may — check with your provider for the documentation your claim needs.
How can I confirm my osteopathy coverage?
Before your appointment, ask your insurer whether your plan covers an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, what percentage of the fee is reimbursed, the annual maximum, whether a referral is needed, whether direct billing is available, and what documentation is required.
Have questions about insurance? Our team is happy to help you understand the clinic's billing process and direct-billing availability — contact KV Osteo Health Clinic to learn more.
